Contractor Marketing Agency, $297 a Month, No Contract | DJH & Co

Contractor marketing agency: $297 a month, no contract

DJH & Co is a contractor marketing agency run by one person. For $297 a month flat I build and run your website, your Google review requests, missed-call text-back and lead follow-up. I build the site first, and you pay nothing until it is live and you like it.

By Dennis Hendrickson, owner of DJH & Company LLC, Sarasota, Florida

Proof, including the parts that went wrong

What I found doing this on my own business first

Most agencies show you their wins. Here is what I found when I ran the same system on DJH & Co.

My Google profile said I was a tennis instructor

When I audited my own Google Business Profile, the public listing showed "Media company" and "Tennis instructor" as my categories, with hours nobody had set on purpose. What I found and how to check yours.

18 new pages, and Google showed them to the wrong people

Five weeks after I added 18 pages, Google was showing them, but mostly to homeowners looking for a contractor, not contractors looking for a website. The real numbers.

My own texting registration was rejected twice

Missed-call text-back needs a carrier registration called A2P 10DLC. Mine was rejected once for using a business name where my legal name was required, and again because reviewers could not verify the sign-up step. I fixed both before building it for anyone else.

Before you hire any agency

Five questions to ask a contractor marketing agency

1. What is the price, in writing, before I sign?

If the price changes after a sales call, ask what the call was for. Mine is $297 a month and it is on the website.

2. Is there a contract, and how do I leave?

Month to month should mean you can cancel without a fee. Ask what happens to your site and your phone number when you do.

3. Who owns my Google Business Profile?

Your profile should be in your name, with the agency added as a manager. If the agency is the owner, getting control back is up to them.

4. Is your texting registered, and in whose name?

Business texting has to be registered with the carriers, and the names have to match exactly. A mismatch gets the registration rejected, and texts from an unregistered number fail. Ask whose name it is under.

5. Can I talk to the person doing the work?

With me, you already are.
